Jason Pierre-Paul plans to tackle his former high school QB Sunday

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants' coaches have spent part of the week reminding their players that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson played quarterback at Michigan and can throw the ball. Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul does not need reminding.

"Denard Robinson was my quarterback in high school," said Pierre-Paul, who did indeed attend Deerfield Beach High School in Florida with Robinson. "Never had his shoes tied. I don't see how you can play like that. I am going to hit him. Hopefully I can get him and he doesn't outrun me."

Pierre-Paul said he and Robinson grew up together in the same neighborhood and that he's happy to see Robinson doing well since his conversion to running back at the NFL level.

"We have to make sure we're doing our job right, because he can throw the ball," Pierre-Paul said. "You don't want him to do a bootleg or whatever and he throws the ball and hits an open receiver. We have to look out for that. But he's doing a great job. Hopefully he continues to do a great job and be a great football player."

The Giants play the Jaguars at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Jacksonville.
