Notebook: Eli calls Peyton about Bengals

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Eli Manning said he called his brother Peyton to see if he could pick up any tips on the Bengals.

The Broncos defeated the Bengals 31-23 last Sunday.

"I talked to him yesterday about their game," Manning said Wednesday. "Just seeing if there are any tips on certain things. We talked a little bit."

Manning and Tom Coughlin got together on Tuesday to chat about what has been ailing the offense lately.

"We just had a talk," Manning said. "Just about how to get back on track, get back to playing at a high level, anything I needed. That's not uncommon. We talk throughout the season, we have a great relationship, and obviously, both of us want the same thing, for our offense to get back rolling and start scoring some points."

So fresh: Will Hill said he was so excited about returning to practice that he arrived at the Timex Performance Center at 6 a.m.

"Meetings didn't start 'til eight," Hill said.

Hill practiced with the team on Wednesday after serving a four-game suspension for using Adderall. The Giants have until Monday to make a roster move to put him on the roster. If they want to use him against Cincinnati on Sunday, they have to make a move on Saturday.

With Kenny Phillips resting through next week's bye, the Giants have Antrel Rolle, Stevie Brown, Tyler Sash and now Hill at their disposal at safety if they choose to make a roster move.

"They want to see how I am right now and if I lost a step or anything," Hill said. "So I'm just waiting on the coaches to make their call."

Hill says he did not lose a step. He said he worked out in Atlanta with former Falcons defensive back Ray Buchanan. He said he got to show off his fresh legs in practice.

"I felt as though this break actually gave my body a little something to rest," he said. "And everybody out there today was like, 'I'm jealous man. You got fresh legs.' I'm running around everybody right now."

Positive Canty: Despite sitting out practice with a groin issue, Chris Canty says he is feeling good about playing Sunday.

"I think everything is very positive for Sunday," Canty said. "Feeling very good. I don't feel like there's a limitation on it. Again, it's just I've got to get used to getting banged around a little bit.

"We're talking about three games in and we're talking about a total of nine practices [since coming off PUP]. So it's not an excuse. I've got to be healthy. I've got to be out there. It's my responsibility to be out there on the field, so we're going to try to do everything in our power to get me back out there."
