Suns 99, Knicks 90; NY falls to 3-12 at MSG

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks let another winnable game slip out of their hands on Saturday afternoon.

Down three with three minutes to go, the Knicks went scoreless over the next two minutes and allowed the Phoenix Suns to run off six straight points to seal a 99-90 win at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks fell to 5-24 -- the worst record in franchise history through 29 games. New York has one more loss than Philadelphia, which has the worst record in the league at 2-23. The Knicks have also lost four in a row overall, 14 of 15 and seven straight at Madison Square Garden. They are 3-12 at home.

Close, but no cigar: The Knicks fell to 3-16 in games that were within five points with five minutes to play. That is the second-worst winning percentage in the NBA in such situations. On Saturday, New York was outscored 17-12 in the final five minutes. Point guard Eric Bledsoe had 11 of the 17 points. The Knicks walked off the floor to boos from the Garden crowd after Bledsoe torched them late.

Melo plays: One of the lone bright spots for the Knicks was Carmelo Anthony. Playing on a sore right knee, Anthony had 25 points on 9-for-19 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jose Calderon also played well on offense with 21 points (5-of-6 from 3-point land), five rebounds and three assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. struggled with his shot, with 16 points on 5-for-14 shooting. He missed four of his five 3-point attempts.

Question: If you’re Phil Jackson, do you make a trade to shake up the team? If so, who do you trade for?
