Odell Beckham Jr. keeping close eye on buddy LeBron James in playoffs

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is an unabashed LeBron James fan. After Beckham made his now-famous one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys on national TV last season, he said the reaction that meant the most to him was James' reaction on Twitter. And the two had dinner in New York City some weeks later -- an experience that floored Beckham as much as any that his rapid fame has brought him.

So yes, Beckham is watching closely as James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have advanced to the NBA Finals.

"Just watching him do his thing," Beckham said after Giants OTA practice Wednesday. "It looks like he's got a different look in his eye. Hopefully he can pull it off. But if there's any other team I'd like to see, I would like to see [Steph] Curry get what he deserves."

Curry and the Golden State Warriors still have one more game to win against Houston before they get their date with James and the Cavs in the Finals.

Meanwhile, Beckham is getting ready for football season and enjoying his status as the new cover athlete for the Madden '16 video game.

"I don't know what a jinx is," Beckham said. "It's definitely a blessing to be on the cover. It was a surprise to be in the running after just a year, but it's definitely exciting."
