Prediction: Giants will beat Jaguars

Quarterback Eli Manning was absolutely correct Monday when he said the 3-8 New York Giants don’t have the right to think they’re better than anyone – even the 1-10 Jaguars. As much as this game looks like a chance for the Giants to get right against a non-contender, it’s important to remember that it looks that way to Jacksonville, too.

However, the Giants have been playing close games the last few weeks against playoff contenders. And while they haven’t won since Week 5, they are 3-0 this year against teams that currently have losing records. Their offense hasn’t shown an ability to put a ton of points on the board consistently, but the Jaguars score only 14.6 points per game – nearly two points fewer on average than any other team in the league. The Giants’ defense has only 19 sacks this year, but the Jaguars have allowed a league-high 43 sacks as a team and are tied for the league lead with 16 interceptions.

This is a get-right game for the Giants, who in spite of their own personnel deficiencies should be able to generate enough heat on Blake Bortles to force a turnover or two and should be able to operate their offense the way they want to operate it against Jacksonville’s 28th-ranked run defense. It’s been a long time, but the Giants get to taste victory again for the first time since October.

Giants 27, Jaguars 14.
