Saints' Keenan Lewis misses practice, Brandon Browner participates

METAIRIE, La. -- Cornerback Keenan Lewis was missing from New Orleans Saints practice on Tuesday for an undisclosed reason, joining a handful of players who remain out with injuries: Running backs C.J. Spiller and Khiry Robinson, safety Jairus Byrd and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.

On a brighter note, Saints cornerback Brandon Browner increased his activity, joining teammates during the stretching period and individual drills that were open to the media.

This is the Saints’ only practice this week, with the final preseason game coming Thursday at Green Bay.

The Saints aren’t required to release an official injury report until next Wednesday, leading up to their Sept. 13 season opener at the Arizona Cardinals. In the meantime, coach Sean Payton remained vague on the subject of injuries Tuesday.

“I think we have a pretty good idea in regards to when those guys will be back, and we’ll plan accordingly,” Payton said. “We keep treating them, going through the rehab process, and obviously the first goal is getting them ready for Arizona.”
