Danny Amendola putting in the work

New England Patriots receiver Danny Amendola is taking part in the team's voluntary offseason program after spending most of the offseason in Los Angeles.

Amendola didn't have surgery this offseason for his previously injured groin, according to the Boston Herald.

“I feel great. I feel ready to keep training hard and keep getting better,” Amendola told Karen Guregian of the Herald on Wednesday as part of a Boston-based event for his Catches for Kids charitable foundation. “There’s a lot of progress to be made with our whole group. We’re all excited to be back working together.”

At this time last year, there was optimism surrounding Amendola's standing with the team as he developed an early rapport with quarterback Tom Brady in organized team activities. That continued through training camp, preseason and the season-opener, before a groin injury derailed much of the momentum and opened the door for Julian Edelman to elevate into a top role, which he seized.

When Amendola was healthy, it looked like he would be a signficant contributor.

Will good health be in the cards this year?

It's a question that has followed Amendola in recent years, and still lingers today.
