Patriots tweak back end of roster

The New England Patriots did some managing of the back end of their roster Wednesday, releasing rookie offensive lineman Chris McDonald from the injured reserve list, which makes him a free agent, according to a source.

In addition, the practice squad contract of Jordan Devey was disapproved, though the reason is unclear. That leaves the Patriots with one open spot on the practice squad.

The team has shuffled its roster quite a bit in recent days, a common occurrence around the NFL as the season opener approaches.
