          Sights and sounds: The Opening Washington D.C.

          CENTREVILLE, Va. -- The Nike Opening regional in Washington D.C. featured a lot of the top local talent. Three invitations to The Opening finals in Beaverton, Oregon, were handed out to ESPN 300 prospects Anthony McFarland, Chase Young and Joshua Paschal.

          Young, a defensive end, ranked No. 134 overall, is currently working off of a top list of Notre Dame, Florida State, Michigan, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan State, Arizona State, Florida, Alabama, USC, Maryland, Texas A&M, LSU, Clemson and Ohio State.

          McFarland is primarily a running back, but worked out as a receiver most of the day. The No. 68-ranked prospect’s versatility was on display in one-on-one drills.

          McFarland hasn’t narrowed his recruitment down just yet, but says he will be taking visits to Oklahoma, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia in the near future and just recently took a visit to Maryland.

          The Terps were a hot topic among the prospects at the camp in part because of new head coach D.J. Durkin and also because of Terps defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, who coached at nearby Friendship Collegiate Academy before jumping to the college ranks.

          Defensive back Deon Jones was one of the many prospects who brought up Abdul-Rahim when talking about Maryland.

          Jones already has offers from Clemson, Maryland, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and others. The No. 95-ranked prospect said he will try to set up visits to UCLA, Arizona State and Stanford this summer.

          Wide receiver Cameron Sullivan-Brown also has Maryland as one of his top schools and says the Terps and Penn State will definitely make his top 10, along with Duke, when he narrows his list down.

          The Terps also had a few extra recruiters on hand at the camp with linebacker commit Ayinde Eley, quarterback commit Kasim Hill and offensive line commit Jordan McNair in attendance.

          Maryland wasn’t the only school with commitments at the camp, though, as Penn State linebacker commit Dylan Rivers was decked out in Nittany Lions’ gear.

          Nebraska even had a commitment at the event in 2018 tight end Cameron Jurgens, who had a good day at the camp.

          Jurgens and a few other underclassmen showed well, including 2018 defensive lineman Austin Fontaine, who holds some huge offers including Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee and Clemson among others.
