The Ole Miss-LSU game on Saturday afternoon will feature two teams that have had their ups and downs on the field this season, but both have a chance to finish very strong in recruiting.

At one point, Ole Miss was the No. 3-ranked team in the country after beating Alabama. But after losses to Florida, Memphis and Arkansas, the Rebels are just hoping to salvage their season with a big win over LSU and a decent bowl game. In recruiting, however, the Rebels are putting together a class that is on par with the 2013 recruiting class which featured potential first round draft picks Robert Nkemdiche, Laquon Treadwell, Laremny Tunsil and Tony Conner.

It's no secret that recruiting a top quarterback along with elite offensive and defensive linemen are keys to success in the SEC. To date, the Rebels have a commitment from five-star defensive tackle Benito Jones, the No. 2-ranked dual threat quarterback Shea Patterson and are a serious contender for the No. 2-ranked player in the ESPN 300, offensive tackle Greg Little. The top-ranked offensive tackle was set to announce his decision last Friday, but decided to push his decision back. Despite the delay, Ole Miss is still in a good position for Little.

Rashan Gary, the No. 1-ranked player in the country, also announced he would use one of his official visits to Ole Miss this year. While Michigan appears to have a slight advantage at the moment, the Rebels are now in serious consideration.

For LSU, rumors have circulated this week that LSU head coach Les Miles might be coaching for his job these last few games which is never a positive thing for recruiting. The Tigers, however, already have the top-ranked recruiting class in the country and there is a ton of talent left on their recruiting board including ESPN 300 prospects Shavar Manuel, Rahshaun Smith, Willie Allen, Rashard Lawrence, Kristian Fulton and many others.

The talent-filled LSU class contains commitments from top athletes such as Saivion Smith, Edwin Alexander and Michael Divinity. The Tigers also have a commitment from quarterback Feleipe’ Franks, the No. 4-ranked pocket passer in the country. Franks, however, is still looking at Florida and Florida State and has by no means shut his recruiting process down.

With so many top prospects remaining and the only quarterback commit looking at other programs, LSU is in desperate need of a strong finish to the season. Ole Miss, meanwhile, is out to prove the 2013 class was no one-hit wonder and are looking to not only add star power, but enough depth to be able to compete with the top SEC programs year-in-and-year-out.
