Brandon Jones, nation's No. 1 safety, releases top 6

Brandon Jones, the No. 27-ranked prospect in the class of 2016, made the weekend of six college staffs Saturday.

The nation's No. 1-ranked safety has been one of the nation's most heavily recruited prospects the past two years in the 2016 class. He's received more than 40 offers, including the past three national champions -- Ohio State, Florida State and Alabama.

Saturday afternoon, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the state of Texas announced a top 6 on Twitter.

Jones, a 2016 Under Armour All-America Game selection, broke down the top 6 in alphabetical order with RecruitingNation.

Alabama: This is a school that I've had interest in ever since they offered me. They are the top team every year and have consistent winning seasons each year. Alabama would be a great fit.

Baylor: I love the coaching staff and it's my grandmother's alma mater. The environment is great, and it's an in-state school.

LSU: You know, they are DBU. The coaching staff is amazing, just so welcoming and makes me feel like I'm wanted.

Oregon: I've liked Oregon since I was little. It would be great to play for a school I've liked for so long. Top-notch facilities and jerseys, and I love the fast tempo.

Texas A&M: A&M was my first offer. They've been in the mix from the get-go, they are the closest SEC school to home, and I'm real close with Coach [Kevin] Sumlin and Coach [Terry] Joseph. It's just a great school overall.

Texas: This is a school I've grown up watching. They were later to offer but once they did they automatically were in my top. I love the campus, coaches and the environment. It just feels so comforting when I'm there.

While Jones does have six schools that stand out above the rest, that doesn’t mean he has cut his list to a final six. He continues to consider Arkansas, Ohio State and Ole Miss with deciding on five schools for official visits in the next phase of the recruitment.

Jones plans to take his recruitment all the way to national signing day, Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
