Florida State tops first 2016 recruiting class rankings

There is still a long way to go until anything is finalized and much can change, but with more than 100 prospects in the initial 2016 ESPN 300 already committed, many 2016 recruiting classes are starting to take shape.

Florida State starts the 2016 cycle at No. 1 after a No. 2 finish in 2015 and a No. 3 class in 2014. After signing a pair of talented quarterbacks in 2015, FSU is adding to the talent pool at that position in 2016 with No. 1 dual-threat QB Malik Henry, an athletic signal-caller with a smooth, quick release. The class also includes a talented potential target for Henry in Isaac Nauta, one of the top tight ends in 2016. Defensively the class is led by No. 1 CB Levonta Taylor, a quick and explosive defender.

The state of Florida leads the charge in the initial class rankings with Miami sitting at No. 2. The Hurricanes have already assembled a big class that includes some offensive firepower in ESPN 300 QB Jack Allison and receivers Sam Bruce and Dionte Mullins.

Five teams that finished in the top 10 in the 2015 class rankings start 2016 among that group, including defending national champion Ohio State at No. 3.

Here are the full class rankings.
