ACC's top recruiting visits

It’s coming down to the wire. There are just two official visit weekends remaining for the Class of 2015 with national signing day Feb. 4. This weekend in the ACC will be key for several programs, with NC State trying to lock up a top-40 class.

NC State

It doesn’t get much bigger for the Wolfpack than this weekend. While there are likely only two official visitors, one would provide a huge perception win, ESPN 300 running back Johnny Frasier. Frasier, ranked No. 80, has been considered a “soft commit” to Florida State for months, and this weekend the in-state prospect will make his official visit to Raleigh, N.C., with a high probability of a flip before national signing day. For the Wolfpack, adding Frasier and Nyheim Hines’ speed and playmaking ability would make the 2015 class a success when combined with several other need-filling verbals. A second prospect who is a possibility to visit is East Carolina defensive end commit Emmanuel Olenga, who also has Nebraska knocking at his door.

Pittsburgh

The Panthers have enjoyed a very productive week on the trail, picking up commitments from four-star linebacker Anthony McKee and three-star safety Jay Stocker. This weekend, Pat Narduzzi and his staff will be trying to continue a late January close with several targets expected on campus. The headliner is three-star linebacker Saleem Brightwell, who made an official visit to Miami (Florida) last weekend and left impressed. A trip to Oregon is scheduled next weekend, but it’s not a lock that the visit to Eugene will occur. Offensive line is a continued position of need, and a new target out of Virginia, Zachariah Hoyt, is headed to town this weekend with Virginia Tech the main competition, should the Hokies offer.

Wake Forest

This is a big visit weekend for the Demon Deacons as head coach Dave Clawson works to put the finishing touches on his first full class. Headlining the weekend’s visitors is four-star quarterback and former SMU commit Kyle Kearns. The California signal-caller is a very good bet to commit during or after his visit and would join three-star Kendall Hinton as a second quarterback in the 2015 class with Hinton already enrolled in spring classes. A top in-state target for Wake Forest who will be on hand is three-star running back and former Tennessee commit Rocky Reid. The downhill power back visited Louisville last weekend and has a visit to West Virginia scheduled for Jan. 30. Reid is a prospect the Demon Deacons' staff has been working for months with hopes of winning out on in late January. A pair of hopeful flip candidates are also scheduled to be on hand this weekend, led by four-star offensive guard and Maryland pledge Quarvez Boulware, who also has a visit scheduled for Florida on Jan. 30. Three-star safety and Oregon State verbal Jay Irvine is also scheduled to be in town. Both are considered long shots to flip.
