Josh Sweat narrows down decision date

Josh Sweat, the No. 5 ranked prospect in the 2015 ESPN 300, plans to announce his decision the first week in December at Oscar Frommel Smith High in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The 6-foot-5, 239-pound defensive end has official visits scheduled: Georgia on Nov. 15, Florida State on Nov. 22 and Virginia Tech on Nov. 27, with the Hokies receiving the final of four officials. He has already visited Ohio State on Sept. 6.

Sweat originally had the Oregon Ducks in his final five, but following his knee injury Sept. 19 and subsequent surgery, he was forced to reschedule his visit dates.

The Under Armour All-America Game selection is navigating through the recruiting process in a time crunch, as he is set to graduate from Oscar Frommel Smith in December and plans to enroll at the university of his choice in January.

Sweat is currently rehabbing his injured knee following surgery Oct. 7 in New York performed by New York Giants team physician Russell Warren. Sweat and family drove from Virginia to New York on Oct. 6 where he was examined by Dr. Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. In the days following the surgery, the procedure was deemed very successful according to Josh's uncle, Kenny Sweat.

Sweat’s daily rehab consists of twice a day physical therapy as well as working with the trainer at Oscar Frommel Smith High. The initial reports after the surgery had Sweat being able to resume running in five months (February), and that remains the same with Sweat healing ahead of schedule.

Prior to Sweat’s injury, he was ranked No. 1-overall and dominating on Friday nights to the tune of 25 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, eight sacks and eight receptions for 210 yards and four touchdowns in just two and half games.

Sweat was the star of July’s The Opening at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. He clocked a blazing 4.46 laser time forty-yard dash, a jaw-dropping 4.00 pro agility shuttle and a 38.3-inch vertical jump.
