The Georgia Bulldogs ' latest addition, ESPN 300 wide receiver Van Jefferson, is a deceptively fast player with terrific fundamentals. What he brings: Jefferson enters his senior season as a tall, accomplished receiver with savvy and polish. He is a refined route-runner and combines that with a wide catch radius to create separation for big down field production. He has soft hands and can track the ball well as a vertical route-runner, where he also shows deceptive speed to stretch the field. Not a home run threat but he is very good in most facets of the position and can play both in the slot and split out wide. How he fits: Jefferson will enter Athens well groomed and ready to play from a fundamental standpoint. He will need continued physical development to adjust to the increased strength and speed of SEC play but his football intuition and savvy at the position are some of the best in this class. The son of former NFL WR Shawn Jefferson, we see the younger Jefferson settling outside but also giving the Bulldogs a big target to exploit zone coverages up the seam when positioned inside. He adds to an impressive 2015 receiver class for Georgia that was a position that needed talented young depth. Who he reminds us of: Deontay Greenberry, Houston. Much like the currently productive Greenberry at this same stage, Jefferson lacks elite speed but has sneaky acceleration to threaten the deep half and a long, rangy frame that aids his catch radius. How their class is shaping up: Georgia is pressing for a top-3 class with a group that is loaded on both sides of the ball. Five Star DT Trenton Thompson leads the charge on an impressive defensive line class but the offensive line has also been bolstered as has the receiving corps with recent additions like Jefferson.
