Uniform roundup: UTEP, Southern Miss celebrate Halloween in orange and black

US TODAY Sports

Halloween seems like an appropriate week for a blackout, and several teams will wear black threads (see below). In Conference USA, UTEP and Southern Miss are taking it a step further.

UTEP in orange, Southern Miss in black on the same field? Yep, it's happening in Hattiesburg. Uniform nation would like to formally thank CUSA for granting the Miners special permission to wear all orange.

The wait is over for Texas A&M's black uniforms.

The Aggies began selling the look -- which includes a helmet that reportedly changes its look based on the amount of light directed at it -- as #AggieNights. But when a noon ET kickoff against South Carolina was announced, TAMU's marketing campaign began taking fire from various corners of the internet.

Senior associate athletics director for external affairs tried to set the record straight when he told myaggienation.com that "the uniforms and the game time were never connected. The #AggieNights theme is about wearing black, or night-colored uniforms, as black is commonly seen on Halloween." At any rate, here's what they'll look like.

Elsewhere in blackout news, Kentucky, Utah, Washington and Houston are ditching their traditional home uniforms for black getups.

NC State welcomes No. 3 Clemson to Raleigh, and Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren appears to be fired up about their new uniforms. They're calling the all-gray look #Ironwolf, and it incorporates some camo for Military Appreciation Day.

SMU is hopping on the chrome helmet train for its home game with Tulsa.

Oklahoma is "bringing the wood" again when it travels to Kansas in an all-cream look.

Colorado will travel to UCLA without much gold on its uniform as the Buffs are going white-white-gray.

UNLV has just one FBS win this season, but the Rebels are going to try to out-uniform Boise State when the Broncos head to Sam Boyd Stadium.
