Nebraska's first bowl game as a Big Ten member will come in Florida against an SEC team.
The Huskers will play South Carolina (10-2) in the Capital One Bowl. The two teams have met only three times and not since 1987, with Nebraska winning all three. Current South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier coached Florida in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl against current Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne. The Huskers won that game 62-24 for the national title.
While those old Spurrier teams at Florida were known for their offense, South Carolina is nothing like that. The Gamecocks finished No. 4 nationally in total defense this season.
