Heading into the all-important July recruiting period, we take a look at recruiting needs and gameplans for the top 25 programs in college basketball. Next up, the Kentucky Wildcats.

Where they are: Coming off a 38-1 season two years ago, Kentucky took an expected step back in 2015-16 -- but still won a share of the SEC regular-season title as well as the SEC tournament before falling in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Indiana. Like most years, John Calipari saw most of his roster depart after the season, but the departures weren’t totally NBA-related. Alex Poythress used up his eligibility, while the elite backcourt of Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray both went to draft early, as did Skal Labissiere despite an inconsistent freshman season. Marcus Lee and Charles Matthews transferred out of the program, with Lee coming as more of a surprise. Isaiah Briscoe did decide to return, and Calipari brings in one of the best recruiting classes of all time, a group that includes five five-star prospects.
