Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter is unlikely to receive a contract extension off his rookie deal, making him a restricted free agent next summer, per CSN Mid-Atlantic's J. Michael citing unidentified league sources.

Rumor Central

Porter, the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2013, and the Wizards have shown no movement toward an extension, much like they did with guard Bradley Beal last year. Beal eventually re-signed for $138 million earlier this month.

Porter's development with the Wizards has been slow. He has averaged 7.5 points per game over three seasons but showed promise this season by moving into the starting lineup full time. Porter averaged 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds playing 30 minutes a game, all career highs. If Porter, 23, can continue to improve on last season, he could benefit from an additional rise in the salary cap expected next offseason. The Wizards will have the right to match any offer sheet Porter signs.

The Wizards are thin at the position with Porter and second-year forward Kelly Oubre the leading candidates on the roster for first-year coach Scott Brooks.
