On Tuesday, free agent guard Dion Waiters posted an item on his Instagram account and it include "#TRUSTTHEPROCESS." To no surprise, some followers of the Philadelphia 76ers thought this was a clue he is going to sign with the NBA team, but that was not his intention with the post.

“That doesn't have anything to do with the Sixers,” a source tells The Philadelphia Inquirer. “That’s a mantra that he and his trainer have made for a while. When things weren't doing well at Syracuse, they would say, ‘Trust the process.’ Whenever he goes through a tough time, he says ‘trust the process.’ Right now, he’s trusting the process of free agency.”

Waiters' future with the Oklahoma City Thunder is uncertain after they pulled his qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent. Waiters has been linked with the Sixers and Brooklyn Nets. However, he probably won't get an offer from either team.

Regarding the Sixers' reluctance to sign the hometown kid, Keith Pompey writes: "The Sixers are concerned that there will be an environment in which trouble will follow him, a source said. There’s also concern that the sometimes-blunt Waiters wouldn’t mesh well with the Sixers’ young players."

ESPN Insider Kevin Pelton currently ranks Waiters as the fourth-best remaining free agent left on the board.
