NBA Rumor Central: 'No movement' in Maurice Harkless, Blazers negotations

Late in the season and into the playoffs, Maurice Harkless became an important part of the rotation for the Portland Trail Blazers. But the quest to re-sign the 23-year-old forward continues to be a struggle and both sides seem to be stuck in limbo.

According to Jason Quick of CSN Northwest, who spoke to Harkless' agent, Happy Walters, there hasn't been any progress toward striking a deal.

"Walters says several teams have shown interest in Harkless, but the small forward wants to re-sign with Portland," Quick wrote. "However, talks with the Blazers have shown 'no movement' in recent days."

Last month, the Trail Blazers extended Harkless' qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent. In the event that Harkless receives an offer from another team, the Trail Blazers would have three days to match the offer.

Although Harkless started just 14 games last season, his stout defense in the playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors was a critical part of the Blazers' unexpected run to the conference semifinals.

Even with contract talks in a stalemate, Walters said his client isn't worried about the current situation.

"[Harkles is] in no rush" to make a decision, Walters told CSN Northwest.

In 78 games last season, the 23-year-old forward averaged 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 18.7 minutes.
