NBA Rumor Central: Rajon Rondo's future with Kings

Point guard Rajon Rondo spent the 2015-16 season with the Sacramento Kings after he agreed to a one-year, $9.5 million deal last July. There is a chance Rondo's time with the Kings is over after the one season.

According to ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, the Kings are not going to get into a bidding war to retain Rondo once the money gets to a certain point.

Following up on that item, James Ham of CSN California reports the Kings have "cooled slightly on the idea of bringing back [Rondo] for a second tour of duty."

Despite averaging 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 11.7 assists, Rondo did not help the Kings win too many more games from the previous season. His poor defense is also a major factor why new head coach Dave Joerger may not want to have the 10-year NBA veteran running the team next season.

Should Rondo not re-sign with the Kings, Darren Collison will likely be the starter when training camp opens in the fall, if no other point guard is acquired via trade or free agency in the summer.
