Report: WCS enters camp out of shape

Training camp in San Diego went well for the Sacramento Kings, however rookie center Willie Cauley-Stein struggled as he reported out of shape.

“I think I’m back to normal,” Cauley-Stein told CSN Bay Area. “Two weeks from now it’s going to be fun. I’m going to be hydroplaning up and down the court. I’m not going to feel winded at all. The first two or three days of camp, it was rough. Two trips down the court, I was gasping for air."

Cauley-Stein, the No. 6 selection in the 2015 NBA draft, had some scouts who doubted his character and work ethic and this decision to not be fit for camp could be a bad sign.

"I won’t ever come back to training camp out of shape like that,” said Cauley-Stein.

Cauley-Stein is expected to provide defense off the bench at either power forward or center, while he works to improve on the offensive side of the ball.
