Report: Delon Wright is a different kind of NBA rookie

In the so-called "one-and-done" era of many NBA draftees, Toronto Raptors rookie point guard Delon Wright is certainly different.

Wright played four seasons at Utah and was chosen with the 20th pick overall. He comes to the Raptors as a 22-year-old. He also benefits from having an older brother who has experienced the ups and downs of an NBA career both on and off the court. That's Dorell Wright, a 29-year-old power forward for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports from the team's preseason camp near Vancouver, B.C., how Wright's basketball acumen could benefit the Raptors this season:

"A four-year American collegian, Wright does have a bit more basketball experience than the teens who are generally high first-round picks. It's allowed him to stand out early in training camp and infuse Raptors coach Dwane Casey with enthusiasm. ... That savvy could allow the Raptors to accelerate Wright's contribution. Toronto is already set with Kyle Lowry as the starting point guard and Cory Joseph as his backup, but Casey can see playing two of the three at the same time."
