Report: Defense will remain Carroll's focus

DeMarre Carroll has made his mark as a defensive-minded small forward. After bouncing around the NBA for three seasons, Carroll established himself as a fan favorite for his hustle and tenacity with the Utah Jazz. After Utah, Carroll moved on to the Atlanta Hawks where he blossomed in Mike Budenholzer's system.

This offseason, Carroll signed a four-year contract with the Toronto Raptors. Even though Carroll received a significant pay bump with his new deal, don't expect the small forward to change his mentality. Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun writes:

"Toronto’s new starting small forward intends to make his mark and move the team forward by doing what he does best — getting tight on opponents and making life miserable for them. 'I’m going to come in first and foremost and focus on defense,' Carroll told the Toronto Sun in a recent phone interview. 'I think defense is the most value I’m going to bring to the team so if I come in focused on defense and let my offense take care of itself, then I’ll be good.'"
