Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo put on a show during Thursday's USA Basketball Showcase scrimmage, scoring 25 points and slamming down a highlight reel dunk over Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Carter-Williams.
The secret to his success? A few words of encouragement from boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather.
It appears Oladipo and Mayweather have struck up a friendship over the past few days. Oladipo watched Mayweather train for his upcoming title bout on Wednesday and tweeted a picture of the two of them together.

On Thursday, Mayweather returned the favor by sitting courtside at the Thomas & Mack Center to watch Oladipo in the USAB Showcase. Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel provides a look at an interaction between the two that Oladipo says helped motivate him to perform the way he did:
- "During a stoppage in play, Mayweather told Oladipo, 'Show me something.' Oladipo obliged. Late in the fourth quarter, Oladipo crossed over Michael Carter-Williams, sped to the hoop and unleashed an emphatic right-handed dunk, prompting several players seated on the bench to jump to their feet. After he landed, Oladipo did a celebratory shimmy on the baseline. 'He’s one of the greatest athletes in the world, if not the greatest,' Oladipo said afterward, referring to Mayweather. 'He told me he was coming to the game today. When I first got out there, he was just kind of egging me on and getting me going and stuff. And it worked.'"
