Report: Why Miller likely won't sign with Thunder

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to reduce their tax bill, so on Sunday they included Mike Miller in the deal sending Brendan Haywood to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers will waive Haywood soon after they acquire him and Miller should be free, too, in the coming days via buyout with Portland. A few teams may try to sign Miller, however the Oklahoma City Thunder likely won't be one of them. From Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman:

"Miller, of course, played under new Thunder coach Billy Donovan at Florida between 1998-2000. Miller was Donovan's first major recruit and Donovan has since labeled him as one of the key players who turned helped build the Florida program. ... Miller reportedly wanted out of Cleveland because he believes he can still contribute on the court. Last season, he was a valued veteran presence in the locker room for the Cavaliers, but was buried in the rotation by midseason. Even as the injuries piled up late in the playoffs, Miller found it tough to even get a sniff of playing time. With the Thunder, he'd presumably be walking into the same problem. Barring injury, OKC's rotation would be extremely tough to crack for Miller, whose game has declined in recent seasons. ... So in reality, while this potential pairing is intriguing and worth monitoring over the next couple days, Mike Miller to the Thunder seems like an unlikely outcome."
