Podcast: Tom Haberstroh on Greg Monroe, Carmelo Anthony

ESPN NBA Insider Tom Haberstroh joins The Herd with Colin Cowherd to discuss the recent success small market NBA teams have had at luring big-name free agents. Haberstroh cites Greg Monroe's signing with the Milwaukee Bucks as a prime example of the trend.

“You look at Greg Monroe going to Milwaukee and turning down the [Los Angeles] Lakers, turning down the [New York] Knicks. I mean, think about that for a second. Five years ago that would have been crazy,” Haberstroh said.

In continuing to discuss Monroe, Haberstroh also believes the move provides Milwaukee with the type of versatility they need to contend next season.

"Greg Monroe -- big signing," Haberstroh said. "If he isn’t working out in some particular game, they can go big, they can go small, they can do whatever they want, and that’s the versatility that’s going to unlock them. I see them as a four, five [or] six seed in the East."

Haberstroh also touched on Carmelo Anthony, comparing him to Paul Pierce with the Boston Celtics before he was joined by Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Haberstroh believes that if the Knicks were to take a similar approach to their roster then Anthony could realize that he doesn't have to win games alone.
