Report: D-League team to play close to home

The Toronto Raptors will be operating their own D-League team in the near future and it will probably be located in the area. From Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun:

"Toronto’s top prospects will soon be playing close to home. Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment president and CEO Tim Leiweke made the surprising pronouncement on Wednesday that the Raptors’ forthcoming NBA Development League affiliate would be a local production. ... It was originally thought that an affiliate would be based in nearby New York State, but clearly MLSE is taking seriously its mandate to develop Canadian talent, something Raptors president/general manager Masai Ujiri has mentioned often. While sources cautioned to the Sun that having the team in place next year is the hope, there is no guarantee that all of the necessary arrangements will be completed in time."
