Draft preview: Spurs could find value with Justin Anderson

The NBA draft approaches, and with Tuesday’s lottery results coming in, ESPN insider Chad Ford put together his latest mock draftInsider, in which he projects the San Antonio Spurs to find a way to squeeze in some value at the No. 26 spot.

In his most recent mock, Ford projects the Spurs to select Virginia small forward Justin Anderson with the No. 26 pick.

Keep in mind Ford’s mock draft will likely fluctuate over the next four weeks, as he receives more information from NBA sources. But this comes on the heels of last week’s NBA draft combine, which altered some of his initial projections.

It’s important to note the Spurs, in the past, have found value at the No. 26 spot, where in 2008 the club took George Hill. So Ford’s selection of Anderson here makes sense given the situation at hand for the Spurs.

The Spurs could use another 3-and-D player similar to Danny Green, who might wind up bolting in free agency, and Anderson could fit the bill here as a rotational piece. San Antonio could also benefit from finding a legit backup at small forward for Kawhi Leonard.

So Spurs fans should also keep an eye out for players such as UCLA’s Norman Powell and Georgia State’s R.J. Hunter, as well as Utah’s Delon Wright at No. 26.
