Thursday's Raptors Links: Pascal Siakam is a good fit with the Raptors

Raptors assistant Jerry Stackhouse adds to coaching experience: From a distance, Raptors head coach Dwane Casey has enjoyed watching his coaching staff grow, along with the young talent on hand at Summer League. "It's great to be around the young players, a lot of fun. I enjoy coming and teaching the players, especially for our guys to have a chance to get better," Casey said after the Raptors practiced at a high school in the desert on Wednesday. -- Toronto Sun

Why first-rounder Siakam is exactly what the Raptors need: Pascal Siakam’s eyes are darting everywhere. He looks to the right side of the court, just above the 3-point line where point guard Fred VanVleet holds the ball, to see if a screen is needed. It’s not, and so Siakam quickly turns his attention to the lane, looking for a cutting opportunity. There’s room in the paint, but he eases back, lulling his defender into a comfort zone watching the ball. VanVleet lets fly with an errant jumper, and Siakam times a foray to the rim perfectly for a tip-in bucket. -- Sportsnet.ca

Raptors’ Pascal Siakam fulfills father’s dream: Tchamo Siakam loved basketball — loved it for the opportunities it could afford his three sons, for its beauty as a sport and for the future it could provide for generations of his kin. The mayor of Makenene, Cameroon, dreamed of the day one of his offspring would truly make it. Three of his sons tried to buck the odds but fell short of the ultimate goal, not for a lack of effort but because it’s a long and difficult journey few ever complete. -- Toronto Star
