Wednesday's Knicks Links: Possible free agent center options

While Knicks - and everyone else - wait on Kevin Durant, here are centers that they could use: The big man Phil Jackson covets is the same player just about half the NBA is chasing, Kevin Durant. A starting frontcourt of Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis would be formidable, even if it means having to play the second-year Porzingis at center. Until Durant signs elsewhere, the Knicks are technically still in the running. Realistically, Jackson is already considering what free-agent center would be the best fit. -- New York Daily News

Knicks eyeing Kent Bazemore, but price tag may be holdup: The Knicks have heavy interest in Hawks 6-foot-5 shooting guard Kent Bazemore, but they may be priced out or simply shut out, according to NBA sources. Between a starting center and shooting guard, Knicks president Phil Jackson has to craftily split his $29 million-plus of cap space. That figure accounts for cap holds on four of his own free agents (Derrick Williams, Kevin Seraphin, Lance Thomas, Langston Galloway). -- New York Post

How Jeff Hornacek is already winning over Carmelo Anthony: Talk about a good first impression. Carmelo Anthony says he’s off on the "right foot" with new Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek, who surprised the All-Star by viewing his workouts. Anthony campaigned after the season for Knicks president Phil Jackson to seek an alternative to interim coach Kurt Rambis, who will stay on as the lead assistant. -- New York Post
