Tuesday's Pistons Links: Why Denzel Valentine might be a first round target

Denzel Valentine's multiple talents could appeal to Pistons: The Detroit Pistons have four shooting guards under contract for 2016-17 but none beyond next season. A combination guard with a handle and high-level shooting accuracy is something they could use. Valentine would be drafted as a shooting guard but could help as a playmaker regardless what position he is labeled as playing at any given moment. -- MLive.com

Green gets drop (kick) on floppers: A day later, the great NBA debate was about suspension. Of belief, and of Draymond Green, after everyone reflexively went nuts about the Golden State star’s kick to the groin of Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals. -- The Detroit News

No. 18 picks in Pistons history: Can’t beat Dumars: During Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals last week, NBA television analyst Mark Jackson proudly talked about being selected with the No. 18 pick in the 1987 draft. Jackson went on to have a stellar career, most notably with the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers. Cleveland Cavaliers sharpshooter J.R. Smith also was picked 18th (2004). So were former Birmingham Brother Rice star B.J. Armstrong in 1989, David West in 2003 and Eric Bledsoe in 2010. -- Detroit Free Press
