Scott Brooks is a big proponent of analytics: When Washington Wizards Coach Scott Brooks was a 4-foot-11 freshman at East Union High School in Manteca, Calif., his basketball coach was also his math teacher and used numbers to illustrate the importance of layups to his pupil.
