Suns Daily Links: Friday

Markieff Morris is Valley's top sports villain: The Suns need to trade Morris as soon as possible, and when his production is maximized, his contract is considered a bargain. But who wants a player who can’t control his emotions while playing for an interim coach who handed him everything, including the keys to the bus? Remember, this is not a rookie. This is a player in Year 5 of his NBA career. -- The Arizona Republic

Why haven't Suns traded Markieff Morris?: It's a common question these days among sports fans in the Arizona: Why haven't the Phoenix Suns traded Markieff Morris? One reason is that the NBA is not at the trading deadline yet. Teams typically tend to wait to the 11th hour to make a deal and the league deadline isn't until Thursday, Feb. 18. Furthermore, Morris is having a career-worst season, so his value is probably not what it could or should be. -- The Arizona Republic

Suns, NBA can't move on as easily as Markieff Morris wants: Markieff Morris is ready to move on, but the rest of the basketball world is not. Morris' verbal and physical altercation with teammate Archie Goodwin, less than three minutes into Wednesday’s Suns game, was brief but it will linger as another stain on Morris’ season. In addition, Morris’ gesture to a heckling fan as he left the court Wednesday night likely will result in a league fine. -- The Arizona Republic

Who knew the Suns bottoming out could feel so terrible?: I’ve been advocating that the Phoenix Suns bottom out for years. Actually, it’s been about six years. When Amar’e Stoudemire left for New York following the team’s 2010 Western Conference Finals run, it signaled the end of an era. Sure, Steve Nash, Grant Hill, Jason Richardson and others were still on board, but you just knew that without STAT, the team’s window — which was really open from 2004 until then — had closed. -- ArizonaSports.com
