MLB Rumor Central: Indians inquiring on Steve Pearce

ESPN's Buster Olney wrote Wednesday that the Cleveland Indians would likely stick to smaller deals, and as it turns out, he might be on to something.

Tampa Bay Rays utility man Steve Pearce has been catching eyes as the trade deadline looms, and according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Indians are a pair of those eyes watching.

In Olney's MLB roundup, he writes, "Cleveland will make upgrades, but chances are its choices will be valued more for infrastructure than headlines."

If that's the case, then Pearce would be a good option for the Indians. The 33-year-old is playing in his 10th season and is hitting .312 with 10 HRs and 29 RBIs.

The Tribe are believed to be looking for an infield/outfield option and were linked to Minnesota Twins All-Star shortstop Eduardo Nunez on Tuesday.
