MLB Rumor Central: Athletics willing to deal Sonny Gray?

Oakland Athletics ace Sonny Gray has largely struggled this season, but there's still a great deal of trade interest in him.

Rumor Central

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, "Every time Gray starts, he draws double-digit scouts from contenders." Despite the attention the 26-year-old is receiving, Athletics executive VP Billy Beane hasn't given any indication that he's willing to deal the right-hander.

Gray has posted a 5.54 ERA in 12 starts this season and has made just three starts since a stint on the disabled list for a strained trapezius muscle near his right shoulder blade. In his last outing against the Texas Rangers, Gray threw five scoreless innings before allowing five runs in the sixth.

If the A's do decide to trade Gray this summer, more teams would prefer him over 25-year-old Atlanta Braves ace Julio Teheran, who has a 2.66 ERA in 15 starts this year, Cafardo writes.

Among the other Oakland names Cafardo lists as potential targets this summer are Ryan Madson, Sean Doolittle, Josh Reddick, Jed Lowrie and Stephen Vogt.
