Stewart a GM in Arizona?

Dave Stewart faces a Catch 22 when it comes to the vacant job of Arizona Diamondbacks’ general manager.

Stewart, the former major league pitcher and coach who is currently a player agent, has been mentioned as a leading candidate to replace the departing Kevin Towers because of his past ties to D-backs’ chief of baseball operations Tony La Russa.

While Stewart may find the opening an intriguing one, he “cannot express interest until he knows he can get it,” says Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. If the interest is not mutual, Stewart risks alienating his client base that includes Matt Kemp and Chad Billingsley.
