Adrian Peterson's Houston-area home can be yours, for $8.5 million

MINNEAPOLIS -- After his new gym in Houston's Heights neighborhood opened in March, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson began looking for a house closer to the facility, to cut down on his 45-minute commute between the gym and his home in The Woodlands area north of the city. Now, Peterson's estate is officially on the market.

The Vikings running back listed his 10,500-square-foot home for $8.5 million this week, with the listing boasting a six-bedroom, 8 1/2-bathroom mansion on an 8.95-acre expanse of land.

"Built for entertaining, this backyard retreat showcases 1700+ of outdoor living space," the listing reads. "Indoors, attention to detail, style & color compliment each other creating luxurious spaces. This majestic home is surrounded by a natural border of trees & professional landscaping."

Peterson's house was assessed at $4.91 million last year, according to MLS property records. With a 20 percent down payment and a 30-year fixed loan at today's interest rate of 3.56 percent, the home can be yours for a monthly payment of $52,421.
