Vikings' Black Friday shopping list includes Stickum for Adrian Peterson

A massage chair for Teddy Bridgewater: According to ESPN Stats & Information, only eight quarterbacks have been hit on more plays than Bridgewater (61) this year. And if you count the hits since last season, that number grows to 149 -- the sixth most in the league since Bridgewater first took the field last September in New Orleans. Bridgewater is tough, and at age 23 he’s been able to bounce back from most of the hits he’s absorbed. But the Minnesota Vikings need him healthy and upright if they’re going to finish their season in the playoffs.

A cookbook with a good turnover recipe: As well as the Vikings’ defense has played this season, it hasn’t done much to create takeaways, forcing only 11 this season. That puts the group 25th in the league. As the Vikings play a stretch of difficult games over the next few weeks, it would help them to be able to steal a possession or two. Mike Zimmer has said he doesn’t want his defenders prioritizing turnovers at the expense of good technique or responsibility to their assignments. But if the Vikings can create turnovers within the context of their defense, they can take their group from very good to great.

A trusty pair of gloves. Stickum. Whatever: Granted, no running back has carried the ball more than Adrian Peterson, who has logged 208 rushing attempts this year. But no running back has more fumbles than Peterson’s five, and that doesn’t count a botched exchange that was credited as a fumble to Bridgewater. Peterson lost his second fumble of the year just outside the Green Bay Packers' red zone on Sunday. While the Vikings have gotten most of his fumbles back, they can’t rely on good luck forever. Peterson has had stretches of fumble problems before in his career, and as heavily as the Vikings figure to be leaning on him down the stretch, they need him to keep a surer grip on the ball.
