Adrian Peterson's TD run caps Vikings' longest drive since 2008

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson's 48-yard touchdown run on Sunday -- his longest of the season -- didn't just pull the Minnesota Vikings within a field goal of the Denver Broncos on a 4th-and-1. It capped off a drive that had already covered 49 yards before Peterson's run.

The Vikings traveled 97 yards for their second touchdown on Sunday, taking nine plays to travel from their own 3 to the end zone. Teddy Bridgewater hit five of his six passes for 51 yards on the drive, overcoming calamity on two occasions to get the Vikings past midfield.

Stefon Diggs recovered his second fumble of the day at the Vikings' 15, after catching a seven-yard pass from Bridgewater to convert a first down. Then, after the Broncos dropped Bridgewater for one of their seven sacks, left tackle Matt Kalil was called for a false start, putting the Vikings at 2nd-and-23 from their own 30.

Bridgewater found Adam Thielen for 16 yards on 3rd-and-17, and Peterson blasted through a gaping hole for his 48-yard score.

"[The line of scrimmage] spread like the Red Sea; it just opened up," Peterson said. "I think [Broncos CB Aqib] Talib, maybe, he was right in the middle of the field, and he was already pursuing, in so I just had to cut. He turned his hips, but it was too late. I was already gone."

According to ESPN Stats and Information, the drive was the Vikings' longest since Week 13 of the 2008 season, when the Vikings covered 99 yards on Gus Frerotte's touchdown pass to Bernard Berrian.
