Vikings have 33,000 ticket commitments for new stadium

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings already have commitments for more than 33,300 seats in their new stadium, the team announced Wednesday as it marked a milestone in its ticket drive.

The Vikings' new stadium preview center opened a year ago Wednesday, featuring an interactive display and sales center for the 65,000-seat facility that's scheduled to open in August 2016. In that time, the team said, 70 percent of ticket holders from the Metrodome have committed to seats in the new stadium, with nearly 800 accounts upgrading to lower-level seats.

The preview center has hosted more than 34,000 people in its first year, the Vikings said. Fans who sign up for the new stadium wait list can begin selecting their seats on March 16. Current season ticket holders have already begun selecting their seats, and the general public will have the opportunity to do so at the end of April.
