Ranking Dolphins' top offseason needs: No. 2 cornerback

The 2015 season is officially in the books with the Denver Broncos winning the Super Bowl on Sunday. That means every team starts fresh in 2016, and it’s time to begin the offseason.

With that in mind, ESPN.com’s Miami Dolphins page will rank the team’s biggest needs this week.

No. 2 need: Cornerback

Pending free agents: None

Analysis: The Dolphins do not have any pending free agents at cornerback. But the team could make plenty of cuts at this position. Part-time starters Jamar Taylor and Brice McCain are the most likely players in the hot seat this offseason. Both were inconsistent and unable to lock down a starting job full time opposite Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes. The Dolphins hope 2015 draft picks Tony Lippett and McCain can fill roles in the secondary next season, but that could be a risky projection. Look for Miami to use a high draft pick and/or resources in free agency to shore up the secondary.
