Uni Watch says Dolphins' jerseys are mediocre

It's a running joke among football fans in South Florida that the Miami Dolphins are the epitome of an average organization.

The Dolphins have gone 8-8 the past two seasons, which is good enough to compete but not good enough to contend. They have a starting quarterback in Ryan Tannehill that is neither bad nor great. Head coach Joe Philbin also is 23-25 in three seasons. Again, that's average.

It's fitting that the Dolphins are deemed a middle-of-the-pack team in yet another category this week. ESPN’s Uni Watch ranked Miami No. 17 out of 32 teams. Again, it’s not awful, but not great. That’s been the story of the Dolphins in recent years.

Here is what Paul Lucas of Uni Watch said about Miami's jerseys:

"The Dolphins are celebrating their 50th season this year and will be marking the occasion by adding a throwback uniform to their wardrobe, although it won't be unveiled until July and it's not yet clear which era it will be from -- or even if the jersey will be white or aqua. (Remember, the Dolphins often wear white at home). As for the rest of their set, it's serviceable but unremarkable. Anyone else wish they'd try an orange face mask?"

I think the orange facemask is a bad idea, by the way. But I also wasn't in favor of the orange seats in Sun Life Stadium, which will be removed this season.

The Dolphins were ranked last in the AFC East in terms of jerseys. The Buffalo Bills (No. 7), New England Patriots (No. 11) and New York Jets (No. 14) were ranked higher.

But what matters most for the Dolphins is what happens on the field this year.
