Miami Dolphins rank 124th in ESPN salary survey

The Miami Dolphins rank 124th out of 333 international teams surveyed in an ESPN/SportingIntelligence report revealing the sports franchises that spend the most on their players.

The Dolphins’ average annual player salary is $2.3 million. The franchise's total player payroll of $124.3 million ranks 20th.

Miami moved up 39 spots this year in average annual salary compared to 2014, pushing itĀ atop the NFL. This offseason the Dolphins signed the biggest free agent on the market – Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh – for $114 million. That is an NFL record for a defensive player.

That number surely will rise again once Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill's $96 million contract is processed. Tannehill signed his extension on Monday and that did not factor into these numbers.
