Dolphins free-agent profile: Jimmy Wilson

This offseason the Miami Dolphins have 16 free agents, 12 of which are unrestricted.

ESPN.com’s Dolphins page continues to examine pending free agents and their chances of returning. Next we take a look at Miami’s backup safety.

Player: S Jimmy Wilson

Status: Unrestricted

2014 stats: 58 tackles, one interception

Analysis: Wilson brings a lot of value to the Dolphins due to his versatility. He started seven games at safety due to injury (Louis Delmas) and suspension (Reshad Jones) and six as the team’s nickel cornerback, which is a valuable position in Miami’s defense. It will be interesting to see what kind of interest Wilson gets on the open market. He started 13 games, but will he get starter money? Wilson developed in the Dolphins’ system and they know his value better than outside teams. I expect Miami to make a solid push to bring Wilson back next season.

Chances of returning: 70 percent
