Lakers 114, Hawks 109: L.A. gets 2nd win

ATLANTA -- Kobe Bryant made some more history here Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers basically played in front of a home crowd, and the team put forth by far its most complete game of the season with a 114-109 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers now stand at 2-9.

Player of the game: The 36-year-old Bryant, now in his 19th season, broke through the 32,000-point barrier, joining an elite group that includes only three others: Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Bryant entered the game 27 points shy of that mark, and he reached it on a fadeaway jumper in the fourth quarter. Bryant scored a team-high 28 points on a pretty efficient 10-of-18 shooting from the field, much to the delight of the heavily pro-Kobe crowd that turned deafening at times with "Ko-be" chants. He also played 37 minutes.

Moment of the game: With 7.7 seconds left, Pero Antic was wide open from 3-point range on the right wing. He fired away, with a chance to tie it, which would've only seemed fitting in a back-and-forth fourth quarter. But the shot rimmed out. The Lakers held on from there.

Reserve of the game: In his season debut after missing six weeks with a torn ligament in his right thumb, Lakers guard Nick Young provided the much needed scoring boost that the Lakers were looking for, with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 28 minutes off the bench.

Stat of the game: Fifteen assists on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 10 assists. Yep, that line belongs to Jeremy Lin, and it marked his best game of the season.

Up next: the Lakers head to Houston to face the Rockets on Wednesday.
