Where top 2016 draft picks fit in their organizations' prospect ranks

Every year, once the dust has settled on the MLB draft, I get questions from readers about where each team's top pick might rank among prospects within their organizations. Here I quickly address that question for the top 12 draft picks, as well as one other notable first-round selection.

For a look at my top 100 draft prospects for 2016, click here. Player-card scouting profiles -- click on the drafted player's name to read them -- were written by Eric Longenhagen.

1st pick: Mickey Moniak, OF
Philadelphia Phillies
New No. 2 prospect

The Phillies already have one of baseball's best prospects in shortstop J.P. Crawford, recently promoted to Triple-A, so anyone they took from this year's draft class was going to slot in second, at best. Moniak is obviously much further away than the likes of Jake Thompson or Nick Williams, but he has more upside.

2. Nick Senzel, 3B
Cincinnati Reds
