Travis Kelce not optimistic Cavs can end his hometown's championship drought

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Like many Cleveland natives, Travis Kelce is hopeful the Cavaliers can end the city's long championship drought.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end just isn't counting on the Cavaliers beating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

"As a Cleveland fan, you can't put too much hope in there," said Kelce, who attended a couple of Cavaliers home games during the Eastern Conference finals against the Toronto Raptors. "You can just kind of pray that we get it out to six games, so they can actually play the sixth game in Cleveland.

"I'm an overall basketball fan. I love Cleveland to death and I love the Cavs, and I've been to a couple of playoff games already, but it's one of those things where I enjoy the game more than I enjoy who actually wins it."

Told that he sounded like a true Cleveland sports fan, meaning his pessimism is showing through, Kelce said, "I've got this thing down pat."

The NBA Finals tip off Thursday night in Oakland, California. The Cavaliers will try to win Cleveland's first championship in a major professional sport since 1964.
