@ESPNdirocco I know you're not part of the Jags front office but from what You've seen would you speed up the timetable when Bortles starts?

@ESPNdirocco: If Blake Bortles continues to make the kind of progress he has made in training camp, then I would try and get him on the field sometime after the bye week and not wait until the 2015 season. But the caveat is that I'd want him to play only if there's an environment that will enable him to have success. By that, I mean the offensive line isn't a mess and he doesn't have to rely on several rookies and Mike Brown at receiver because Cecil Shorts is hurt. I'd want Bortles to get used to playing in the regular season and going through the weekly process of game-planning and preparation, if possible, but I'd also want to make sure he's not hamstrung by the offense.

@ESPNdirocco: It was good for the Jaguars to see Davis working with the first-team defense and having success (1.5 sacks) against Atlanta on Thursday night. Davis has become an effective edge rusher, but I still think Andre Branch is ahead on the depth chart because of his experience. That could change during the season. There's no denying Davis has come a long way in a short time and could become one of the team's top pass-rushers.

@ESPNdirocco: No, because I wouldn't think that way. No athlete does. They can't, because if they do, they're playing without confidence and that's a sure-fire way to end up on the bench. Henne believes he's the team's best quarterback right now and that's the way he should approach things. It's up to the coaching staff to determine if he's the best person to lead the team, and right now that's what they believe.

@ESPNdirocco: I'll see him Monday during open locker room. As for on the field, I don't think even coach Gus Bradley knows that answer. They've said they're committed to not playing Bortles until he's ready and there's no set timetable to determine when a player is ready. That being said, I think we all saw how much Bortles progressed during training camp and the preseason. Taking that into consideration, I don't think it would be unrealistic to expect to see him on the field after the Jaguars' bye in Week 11.

@ESPNdirocco: Like my golf game, you mean? I don't see how sitting out the year could be bad for him. He'll get a chance to continue to work on his footwork, gain a better understanding of the offense, and learn what it's like to be an NFL quarterback. If he improves in those areas then he will be a better quarterback when he does play. Maybe he would be a bit rusty from not playing in a game, but that would be something that would wear off quickly, within the first few moments of being on the field.
